Delhi’s Yamuna River Cleanup: Action Plan & Challenges (2024-2027)

Yamuna River

An action plan has been prepared to clean the Yamuna river of Delhi. The government has joined hands very quickly to clean the Yamuna.

But we can see a machine in the Yamuna. Can the Yamuna be cleaned with that machine? The Yamuna is so big.

It has a stretch of about 27 km. From Wazirabad to Jaitpur and Okhla. We can see the pictures.

The Yamuna River looks so dirty there. Can that machine clean it?

How will the Yamuna be cleaned? The work of the machine is to remove the solid waste from the Yamuna. But is the Yamuna dirty only because of the solid waste? It is very important to understand this. Because the opposition and other parties are constantly raising questions.

If this machine was to be removed, then why was it removed after the elections? These are political questions. You have stopped these machines for a year. And as soon as the elections were held, the machine was removed from the Yamuna.

Many people were trying something at their level. The government has taken it into its own hands. And has said that this machine will run like this for the next few months.

So the main work of this machine is that the solid waste that we see in the river. We perform pooja and perform rituals and put it in the Yamuna. Whether it is coconut, chunri, or the idols of God.

Or the things that we see in the water. Polythene, garbage, etc. So this machine can remove all of them.

But will the pollution of the Yamuna be reduced? No. Yamuna will not be clean from it. The most important thing to clean the Yamuna is to improve the sea waste treatment plants.

The other chief secretary, Naveen Chaudhary, has said that in the next two years. All the sewage and industrial waste in the Yamuna will be completely stopped in the Yamuna.

Naveen Chaudhary is saying that these efforts are being made to clean the garbage.

But in three years, the Yamuna will be cleaned at all costs. He said that everyone’s participation is very important in this work. He also said that all the sewage treatment plants will be started in the next few years.

Has the Yamuna River cleaning work started suddenly?

In which six new sewage treatment plants will be established. There are 37 sewage treatment plants in Delhi. Out of which only 16 are coming down to Gunwatta.

That is, more than 20 sewage treatment plants need to be upgraded. Only then will they be able to treat. And he said that in the next two years, the sewage and industrial waste in the Yamuna will be completely stopped.

And by December 2027, the Yamuna will be cleaned. Yes, he is telling the deadline of December 2027. And he is also saying that the entire 57 km part of the Yamuna in Delhi goes from Haryana to UP.

This part will be cleaned. And the first important task of the action plan will be to completely remove the sewage from the STP and to stop the industrial waste from entering the Yamuna. So all these things have been told that 28 to 30 big drains put sewage water in the Yamuna.

So all these drains will be stopped. And even then, like the sewage treatment plants, they will not be allowed to go by upgrading them first. And even then, if some drains fall and this happens, then strict action will be taken against those who are trying to pollute the Yamuna.

After meeting the experts and talking to them. So the big claims and promises that have been made since yesterday that the action plan has been prepared to clean the Yamuna. And they have come into action all of a sudden.

We can remove solid waste from the Yamuna, but the real reason for the pollution of the Yamuna is the treatment plants that are not working properly. Now how soon will that happen? Because the claims and promises are being made till December 2027. We will have to wait for that.

But in the next few months, this picture will definitely become clear. How many treatment plants are being upgraded and how much work is being done for the betterment of the Yamuna.
